AUBURN — The YMCA of Auburn-Lewiston’s day camp program has announced registration is open for Y Kids Camp, Camp Connor and Teen Leadership Camp.
Y Kids Camp, serving children at 62 Turner St., will include activities geared toward preventing summer learning loss, based on theme weeks like “The Art of Magic” and “Culinary Week.” Each week includes an off-site field trip, in addition to walking excursions to local sites like the Auburn Public Library. It is for youths entering kindergarten through grade five.
The Y’s Camp Connor, which celebrates its 50th season this summer, has broadened its programming. Campers will take weekly field trips to the Y’s 93- acre Outdoor Education & Learning Center on Stetson Road. Here they will participate in guided nature hikes, practice archery and team-building, and learn about local wildlife. The camp is located on lower Range Pond. It is for children entering grades one through eight.
Both Camp Connor and Y Kids Camp offer daily swimming and free lunch, with the exception of certain field trip days. Camp Connor participants may take formal swim lessons from certified instructors.
Teen Leadership Camp, for youths entering grades nine and 10, provides structured training and mentoring for those who want to take on leadership roles in their community or as future YMCA camp counselors. It is located on lower Range Pond.
Registration for all three YMCA camp programs is now open, and financial assistance is available.
