Kepware Technologies accepting grant applications

PORTLAND — Applications for Kepware Technologies’ 2016 School Grant Contest are now being accepted.

The contest is open to Maine schools and educational programs that are working to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education and workforce development among their students.

Invasion of northern Europe

MINOT — The Minot Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at the Town Office.

A program about the allied invasion of northern Europe will be presented by Erica Swenson, a teacher in Regional School Unit 16.

A regular business meeting will precede the program. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

ATV club welcomes new members

TURNER — The Turner Timberland ATV Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at the Turner Village Station, 19 General Turner Hill Road. 

ATV clubs are entities that obtain private landowners’ permission to provide trails on the landowner’s property; they build and maintain trails on private property; they work with landowners when issues arise with ATV riders; they work with the Department of Conservation on items affecting all ATV riders; they organize fun rides/events for members and nonmembers; and they interact with other clubs for updates on trail conditions, trail maps and fundraising events for local charities.

Turner Timberland ATV Club meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month. New members are welcome.

Supper to benefit fire victims

SABATTUS — The Sabattus American Legion will host a benefit bean supper for the Lebel and Lachapelle families, who lost their home and all belongings to a house fire.

The benefit will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at the Harry J. Conway Post 135 at 40 Island Road. 

Supper will consist of three choices of beans, hot dogs, coleslaw, American chop suey, dinner rolls and homemade dessert.

A silent auction and entertainment will follow. 

Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children 10 and younger.

Benefit spaghetti supper, dance

MECHANIC FALLS — A benefit spaghetti supper and dance for Steve and Donna Yates will be held Saturday, April 16, at American Legion Post No. 150. 

All proceeds benefit the Yates family.

Steve has been in treatment for peptic ulcer disease and out of work for the last two and a half years.

The meal will be served from 4 to 7 p.m.  Cost is $7 per adult and $3 per child 12 and younger. There will be raffles, including a 50/50. Participants do not need to be present to win. 

The dance will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. Cost is $5 per person. Music will be provided by DJ Will.

Rangeley seeks photos for calendar

RANGELEY — The Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce is seeking photos that represent the best of the Rangeley Lakes region throughout the four seasons.

The public may submit their favorite photo, and it may be selected for inclusion in the Chamber’s 2017 calendar.
