‘I Know I Can: College Prep’

LEWISTON — The next session of the Aspirations Workshop Series for teens, “I Know I Can: College Prep,” will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, in the Jeanne Couture Room on the first floor of the Lewiston Public Library.

Maggie Davis, executive director at College for ME-Androscoggin, will discuss a variety of options for college and how to prepare for them, including how to find colleges; asking the right questions of guidance counselors and college representatives; and how to best utilize the Free Application for Financial Student Aid and Finance Authority of Maine as resources.

These workshops are open to all middle and high school students interested in discussing their goals and learning how to access resources to build networks of support. Each workshop will include a presentation and/or activity followed by a question-and-answer session. Those presenting will provide handouts for students to keep in resource folders. Class of 1952 luncheon

RUMFORD — The Mexico High School Class of 1952 luncheon will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, at Connie’s Place on Congress Street.

Robin Dow Seniors to meet 

AUBURN — Robin Dow Senior Citizens met Wednesday, March 23.

The meeting was conducted by President Sandy Verrill. Chaplain Pat Donohue gave an opening prayer followed by a moment of silence for the victims of the attack in Brussels, Belgium.

Next meeting is at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, with a board meeting at 10:45 a.m. There will be a table of items to be raffled after the meeting. New members are always welcome to join the club and take part in the activities.

The seniors are planning to hold a lasagna dinner Wednesday, April 27.

Rumford Area Quilters to meet 

RUMFORD — Rumford Area Quilters will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at the Rumford United Methodist Church on Linnell Street.

All area quilters are invited. Those attending should bring small quilts and wall hangings to be submitted for the mini quilt show at the Pinnacle Health and Rehab Center scheduled for April 19. Show and tell is welcome.

Balloon ride raffle at Post 153

AUBURN — The American Legion William J. Rogers Post 153 is holding a raffle for a hot air balloon ride. 

Tickets cost $10 each, or three for $20. Tickets are available at 71 South Main St. until April 15.

Electronics drop-off in Paris 

PARIS — The Kiwanis Club of Norway-Paris will hold an electronics recycling drop-off fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, in the parking lot of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.

The Kiwanis Club of Norway-Paris and eWaste Recycling Solutions are partnering to respond to the community’s need for recycling electronic devices by hosting the free drop-off. It is an opportunity for residents to responsibly dispose of obsolete electronics like televisions, monitors, computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, scanners, stereos, cameras, speakers, microwaves, cellphones typewriters and calculators.

In lieu of a disposal fee, donations will be accepted for the Kiwanis club.
