1933 – 2016

AUBURN — Laura “Meme” E. Morris, 82, a resident of Turner, passed away peacefully late Wednesday evening, April 13, at the Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Lewiston on Sept. 22, 1933, the daughter of Almont Wing and Clara (Veinott) Wing. She attended school at Leavitt Institute in Turner. On Dec. 9, 1950, she married Freeland Morris of Turner. He passed away on Nov. 5, 1982. Laura worked at Ricker Hill Orchard packing apples and at the Turner schools in the cafeteria. She loved to cook and was known for her little, deep-fried biscuits. Laura especially enjoyed spending time and caring for her family.

She is survived by her companion, Laurier Roy of Lewiston; her daughter, Sherri Jordan and husband, Matthew, of Turner; her sons, Barry Morris and his wife, Sandra, of Livermore Falls, and Gerry “Moose” Morris of Turner; two grandchildren, Danielle Barcelou and her fiancé Adam Stevens, of Turner; and Jamie Morris and his wife, Yulia, of Santa Monica, Calif.; her sisters, Sonia Plourde of Unity, and Rhonda Robinson and her husband, Lawrence, of Fairfield; brothers, Monte “Jr.” Wing and his wife, Paula, of Lewiston, Ronald Morris of Livermore Falls, and Merton “Chub” Morris of New Sharon; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Richard Wing Sr. and Kenneth Morris.
