Coach: Jeff LaRochelle (second year)
Conference: EWC Class: D South
Last year’s record: 3-9, lost in regional quarterfinals
Returning players: Juniors — Ricky Thompson (P/1B/3B), Carl Trafton (2B); Sophomores — Kyle LaRochelle (1B/P), Zack Trafton (C), Hunter Lowell (OF), Bo Beaulieu (SS), Luke Quimby (OF); Freshman — Leo Perez (OF).
Key loss: Mason Cavalier.
Promising newcomers: Junior — Zack Clark (IF); Freshmen — Cal Crosby (UT), Elijah Bliss (OF); Eighth grade — Gaige Savage (OF).
Season outlook: After two years without a varsity team, and a minimal preseason due to a late-arriving spring, Rangeley was a competitive club in 2015. Playoff experience in soccer, basketball and baseball, as well a year of added maturity, should start to pay dividends. Defense and fundamentals remain points of emphasis. The Lakers hope to give up fewer unearned runs, increase their win total and get back to the tournament.
