Lewiston Public Works crews that had expected to be busy for two weeks with distribution of recycling containers finished up the task Monday afternoon, more than a week ahead of schedule. “The crews have just done a really good job,” said Eileen Sylvan Johnson, solid waste superintendent. “We expected it to take longer because it has taken other municipalities a lot longer.” Residents will now have plenty of time to go over recycling instructions dropped off with the containers, and plenty of time to ask questions, Johnson said. Instructions call for residents to deposit newspapers, corrugated cardboard, glass, tin cans and HDPE plastic in the bins.
