JAY — Police are investigating a burglary at the Hairitage House on East Dixfield Road in North Jay. It’s believed to have occurred either Sunday night or Monday morning, Detective Michael Mejia said.
The Hairitage House and North Jay Post Office share the same building but have different entries. Entry was forced to the salon and access was gained to space behind the counter of the post office, he said.
Access also was gained to a safe, Mejia said.
Police are trying to determine what is missing. Evidence was collected.
At this time, it does not appear the U.S. Postal Service lost any property, he said. Mejia is going to meet with a representative of the Postal Inspection Service on the case.
Anyone has information about the burglary is asked to call the Jay Police Department at 897-6766.
