SOUTH PORTLAND — Reigning Mrs. Maine America Lori Geroulo-White will crown her successor on Saturday, May 7, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel.

The event begins at 3 p.m. Tickets cost $45 for adults and $40 for children 12 and younger. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

Eighteen married women from around the state will compete for the title of Mrs. Maine America 2016. The winner will represent Maine at the 40th Annual Mrs. America Pageant in August in Las Vegas.

Contestants will compete in three phases, with 50 percent of their total scores being the interview portion. The other phases, fitness and evening gown, are worth 25 percent each.

The winner will spend her year’s reign volunteering for a variety of charitable organizations, as well as promoting her own platform.

The Mrs. Maine America Pageant celebrates married women and their accomplishments. Contestants are recognized for all they contribute to their families and communities.

This year’s local contestants are Mrs. Cumberland County Mikell Reed Carroll; Mrs. Greene Janet Desmarais; Mrs. New Vineyard Hannah Webber and Mrs. Topsham Crystal Shorey;
