LEWISTON — The Maine Music Society has announced the addition of Dr. Alan Carr to its board of directors.
Carr directs the applied music program and manages the Dean of Faculty concert series at Bates College.
Previously, he was on the music faculty at Concordia University Wisconsin. He has performed with the Alabama, Baltimore, Dubuque and Hartford symphony orchestras, the American Brass Quintet, the Isthmus Brass Ensemble, the King’s Brass and Ensemble ACJW of Carnegie Hall.
Since 2015 he has participated in the Southeast Trombone Symposium Professors Trombone Choir, comprised of trombone artist-faculty from across the country. In addition to his work at Bates, he is a founding member of the Sequenza Trombone Quartet.
He is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory, the Juilliard School, Yale University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His wife Jocelyn is a professional French horn player. They have two children, Evelyn and Matthew.
