AUGUSTA — Erica Brown and The Bluegrass Connection will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15, in the Jewett Hall auditorium at the University of Maine at Augusta.

The concert is part of the Concerts at Jewett series, sponsored by UMA College of Arts and Sciences and UMA Senior College.

Brown has been playing the fiddle since age 7 and touring since age 9. She credits her grandfather, who played accordion and harmonica, for her passion for music. She was a recipient of a 2006 Maine Arts Commission Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Award and was recognized as a master artist by the Maine Arts Commission that year. She has competed in and won numerous fiddle contests throughout New England and Canada. She combines her classical training on the violin with the spontaneity of country and bluegrass fiddle for a fun-filled performance.

The Bluegrass Connection is comprised of Steve Roy, Matt Shipman, Ken Taylor and Read McNamara. The men play guitar, bass, mandolin and banjo, with Brown accompanying on fiddle.

Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for students. Those 12 and younger are admitted free. Tickets are available at Pat’s Pizza in Augusta, Dave’s Appliance in Winthrop and at the door.
