SOUTH PARIS — Raymond F. Gagnon, 92, died Monday, May 9, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris. He was a resident of Dixfield.
Born in Rumford on Feb. 9, 1924, he was a son of Alfred and Nellie (Talon) Gagnon. He was a graduate of Stephens High School in Rumford and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He worked for Oxford Paper Company in Rumford as a millwright until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Raymond was married in Rumford on Oct. 23, 1948, to Frances Hosie, who survives of Dixfield. Other survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Gagnon of Madison; three sons, Peter Gagnon of Lewiston, Christopher Gagnon and his wife, Malissa, of Waterboro, and James Gagnon of Dixfield; two sisters, Irene Gagnon of Rumford and Lillian Chase of Farmington; three grandchildren, Sarah Gagnon, Courtnie Holden and Matthew J. Gagnon and his wife, Erin; one great-grandson, Matthew R. Gagnon.
