JAY — A Livermore Falls woman was injured Wednesday afternoon when her car was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer in a construction zone near Jay Elementary School on Route 4, police said.

Two other vehicles were also involved in the chain-reaction accident.

Pauline Dion, 87, of Livermore Falls suffered facial injuries when the PalletOne truck driven by Jamie Murphy, 42, of Canton hit her car from behind, officer Dylan Rider said.

Dion’s 2006 Dodge Stratus struck the back of a 2002 Dodge 1500 truck driven by Michael Jandreau, 55, of Livermore, pushing his truck into the back of a 2008 Toyota Tundra operated by Peter Corder, 59, of Farmington, Rider said.

Dion was taken to a hospital by a NorthStar EMS ambulance, Rider said. He was unsure of which hospital.

Her car was totaled. The PalletOne truck from Livermore Falls received minor damage. The two other trucks each received more than $1,000 in damage but were driven away, he said.

Jay Fire/Rescue Department directed traffic and cleaned up debris and fluids. First responders assisted Dion until NorthStar arrived.

A road construction crew also assisted with traffic control and Livermore Falls Fire Department was at the scene of the 2:03 p.m. accident.

A second accident on Jay Hill occurred at 4:39 p.m.

Officer Troy Reed said Betty Bredeau, 80, of Phillips pulled out of Hilltop Collision Center onto Route 4 and her Chevrolet Impala was struck by a Buick LeSabre driven by Hannah Daigle, 25, of Jay.

Both vehicles received reportable damage and were towed, Reed said.
