SUMNER — Pleasant Pond Cemetery Assembly is seeking perpetual care providers.
Providers mow the cemetery, maintain the stones and concentrate on veterans’ graves and older monuments that no longer have relatives to care for them.
Interest in perpetual care is low, so the assembly relies on fundraisers for any improvements it makes to the cemetery.
The assembly will sell calendars in August at a fundraiser. The group recently sold many at its annual meeting. Proceeds are used to keep the cemetery mowed and to fix roads leading into the cemetery.
Proceeds from the last fundraiser went to digging out and resetting some of the leaning, fallen and buried stones.
