AUBURN — Edward Little High School officials and Auburn police are partnering to help students “make it home alive” this prom season by holding a mock fatal car wreck, according to Deputy Chief Jason Moen.

The wreck will be staged in the high school parking lot at 9 a.m. Wednesday and all of the actors will be students from the school.

School Resource Officer Justin Richardson hopes the reminder of lives lost will raise awareness and help students make the right decisions. “We want to open their eyes to the consequences. We need them to understand that drinking and driving just isn’t worth it,” he said.

“We try to make it as realistic as possible so that it will really impact the kids,” Police Chief Phil Crowell said. “It’s shocking when you see the crashed vehicle. It certainly hits home for the students.”
