JAY — Town staff continues to work on developing a program to attract volunteers with the skills needed to address community needs.

Town Manager Shiloh LaFreniere plans to create a policy prior to setting up a town Facebook page to get the word out about volunteer opportunities. The policy will set guidelines on how the page will be managed, who would be able to post items on it and what can be posted on the town’s behalf.

Town Clerk/Code Enforcement Officer Ronda Palmer, Financial Director Lisa Bryant, Police Chief Richard Caton IV and LaFreniere have attended a training program through United Way of the Tri-Valley Area and Service Enterprise Points of Light.

The town has an active Recreation Committee that held a successful work day at French Falls Recreation Area on Sunday, LaFreniere said.

Several volunteers worked on the property the town leases from the Androscoggin Land Trust for $1 a year.
