BUCKFIELD — Charles D. Ray Jr., 69, of Buckfield passed away Friday, May 20, at his residence.
Charles was born in Greene on Nov. 10, 1946, a son of Charles D. Ray Sr. and Cora Mae (Bergeron) Piper. He attended schools in Greene and Albany, and graduated from Sabattus High School in 1964.
After graduating from high school, Ray faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army and did a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam.
For most of his life, Charles worked in shoe manufacturing. He also did carpentry work for a time.
He loved animals and especially enjoyed fishing.
Charles lived in Buckfield for over 10 years, moving there from Livermore Falls.
Surviving are three brothers, Blaine Ray and his wife, Patricia, of Chesterville, Donald Ray and his wife, Christine, of Sabattus and Gerald Piper and his companion, Marcie, of Leeds; two sisters, Judy Ortiz of Lewiston and Patricia Freve and her husband, Dick, of Buckfield; and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents; a brother, Leonard; and a sister, Sandra Ray.
