The fourth concert in the Music with a Mission series, “An Evening of French Music” will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at Church of Universal Fellowship, 82 Main Street, Orono, withNathan Lesser, violin, Marissa Solomon, violoncello, and Patricia Stowell, piano performing music of Gabriel Faure and Claude Debussy.
Nathan Lesser began his violin studies at the age of 4 in his home state of Maine. He attended the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the Yale School of Music, where his primary teachers were David Bowlin and Ani Kavafian. Lesser has a wide variety of musical interests which include historical performance practice, conducting, contemporary music, and music theory and history. Over the past several years, he has attended Kneisel Hall’s Young Artist Program and taught at Kneisel’s Program for Maine Students and Arthur Russell Strings.
Lesser is on the faculty of the Ellsworth Community Music Institute and spent the year conducting the Band, Chamber Ensemble, and Pit Band at John Bapst Memorial High School in Bangor.
