TURNER — Junior pitcher Abby Robertson roped a two-run double over the right fielder’s head in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 6-5 walkoff victory for Leavitt over Morse in softball action Tuesay afternoon.

The Hornets (10-6) had left the bases loaded twice, before making up for lost time in the final frame. Cassie Bunker contributed two singles for Leavitt.

Senior pitcher Marissa Parks handled several bunts well to keep the Shipbuilders (7-9) competitive until the last inning.

Oxford Hills 14, Camden Hills 1

CAMDEN — Four players collected three hits each as Oxford Hills sailed to a 14-1 victory over Camden Hills in softball action Tuesday afternoon.

Erika Whitman took the mound win, with Cody Akers pitching a couple of innings of relief for the Vikings. Maddy Starbird, Kenzi Khakonen, Anna Piirainen and Akers accounted for 12 of Oxford Hills’ hits.

The Windjammers tallied four hits and scored a run in the third inning.

Rangeley takes two

RANGELEY — Senior pitchers Blake Morin and Michaela Shorey earned wins in the circle for Rangeley as the Lakers grabbed 18-8 and 14-7 wins over Temple Academy Tuesday evening.

The Lakers (6-7) opened up with 14 hits in Game 1 and another 13 in the second game. Celia Philbrick slapped a triple in the first game.

Blake Morin launched a grand slam in the second inning of Game 2, which featured the prowess of seniors Morin, Maddi Egan and Shorey.

Eighth-grader Deleyni Carr struck out six batters in the first game and another eight in the nightcap over 14 innings of pitching for the Warriors.

Buckfield 23, Searsport 1

SEARSPORT — Buckfield pounded out 21 hits and 23 runs to end the regular-season on a convincing note Tuesday with a 23-1 win over Searsport.

The Bucks (13-3) got four hits each from Hannah Shields, Bri Damon and Courtney Keough. Shields and Damon each drove in three runs as well. Ashley Campbell and Alexis Bennett each had a pair of hits.

Pitcher Julia Dow held Searsport (3-13) to two hits and one run, coming in the fifth inning. She finished with three strikeouts.

Boys’ lacrosse

Mt. Blue 11, Oxford Hills 9

PARIS — Senior attackman Joe Bowering netted four goals and an assist to lead Mt. Blue to an 11-9 victory over Oxford Hills in boys’ lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon.

The Cougars (5-7) got some timely saves from Alex Gilbert to hold on the win. Reed Wells chipped in with a goal and five assists for Mt. Blue.

The Vikings (2-10) rallied with four goals in the final quarter, but still came up short. Senior attackman Finn Williamson netted four goals and provided an assist for Oxford Hills.

Lewiston 20, Oak Hill 4

WALES — Alex Rivet and Gonnar Wade scored hat tricks as Lewiston buzzed Oak hill 20-4 in boy’s lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon.

The Blue Devils received a pair of goals each from Jayden Wilson, Jacob Mcbride, Nick Tilley and Braden Charest. Bryan Wagg and Dave Brimigan made 16 saves while sharing keep duties for Lewiston.

Baseball

Rangeley sweeps

RANGELEY — Rangeley easily dismissed Temple in Game 1 of a doubleheader with a 14-3 win in a five-inning baseball game Tuesday, but Temple (2-12) gave the Lakers a run for their money in Game 2.

Rangeley (8-5) was forced to slip away with a 7-6 win in its season finale, winning it in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The game was tied at 6-6 when the Lakers produced the winning run. Bo Beaulieu got the in on the mound after coming in for relief of Kyle LaRochelle in Game 2. Zack Trafton had two hits, including a double, and Ricky Thompson hit a homer. For Temple, Garrett Smith tripled and Brad Smith doubled.

In Game 1, Thompson picked up the win on the mound and hit his first of two homers for the day. LaRochelle tripled and Beaulieu and Trafton each doubled. The Lakers erupted with six runs in the fourth inning and used a 13-hit attack.

Leavitt 14, Morse 7

TURNER — Leavitt scored six runs in the fourth and sixth innings to pull away from Morse in a 14-7 victory in a baseball game Tuesday.

Julian Kirouac got the win on the mound and helped his own cause, going 5-5 with a double and collecting four RBIs. Chad Morin, Zac Dymond, and Lucas Perry added multiple hits as well for the Hornets.

Morse refused to go away quietly and plated five runs to cut the lead to 1 in the fifth inning. The Morse rally was highlighted by a three-run triple by Matt Young.
