NORWAY — Norway Memorial Library has announced upcoming programming for its adult summer reading program, “I’m Bookin’ It.”
This year’s focus is on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The first book discussion at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 16, will be about “Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World has Never Seen” by Christopher McDougall.
The second book discussion at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 21, will be about “What I Talk About When I Talk About Running” by Haruki Murakami.
Both books are available by request through the Minerva Library Catalog or by calling 207-743-5309, ext. 1.
Participants will cook something from “Runner’s World Cookbook” and bring it for the cookbook discussion at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 30. Discussion will be about the book and its recipes. Attendees must bring a dish to participate and may bring containers to take home samples. The cookbook will be available at the information desk to browse and make free copies of the recipes.
Angela Bancroft will speak at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, about her experience as an Ironman competitor and how she stays motivated to maintain a healthy lifestyle. She has competed throughout the U.S. in New York, Florida and Hawaii. She also works as an athletic trainer in the U.S. and internationally.
Participants will receive a reading journal and activity log that contains resources to train for a 5K race and suggested local hiking trails. The first 25 who register will receive a free T-shirt. By participating in at least two events, attendees’ names will be put into a raffle for a Fitbit tracker.
