Class A North

Two-time defending state champion Bangor finished the season at the top of the A North standings, edging out second-seeded Edward Little, which like the Rams compiled a 15-1 record. The Red Eddies dealt Bangor its only blemish, 1-0 late in the season in Bangor. EL looked dominant until getting mercy-ruled and no-hit by Oxford Hills at home. The Vikings are the No. 3 seed after winning their last four games to finish 11-5.

The top six teams earn first-round byes, with Brewer, Lawrence and Mt. Ararat joining the top three. Messalonskee, Skowhegan, Hampden Academy and Cony round out the bracket.

Edward Little will host the winner of No. 7 Messalonskee and No. 10 Cony. The Red Eddies faced both those teams on the road during the regular season, routing Cony 12-2 and narrowly edging Messalonskee 1-0.

Oxford Hills is locked in to a quarterfinal matchup with No. 6 Mt. Ararat. The Eagles downed the Vikings in South Paris earlier this year.

Parity reigned in the region this season. Top-seeded Cape Elizabeth and No. 2 York both topped the standings with 11-5 record. No. 3 Greely was right behind at 11-4-1, with the draw coming against 10-5-1 Yarmouth — the No. 6 seed.

Maranacook joins the top three among teams earning first-round byes. No. 5 Leavitt and No. 12 Spruce Mountain span the rest of the pack that will have to battle in the preliminary round.

The Hornets enter the playoffs winners of their last three games. The Phoenix lost their last four, including a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Leavitt to end the season. That was revenge for a 6-5 Spruce Mountain victory early in the season.

The bracket consists of seven WMC schools — including the top three — and five from the KVAC. The state champion has come out of this region each of the last four years, with Greely winning the last two.

Class C South

Monmouth Academy tops the bracket after topping all of its opponents during the regular season, going 16-0. Fellow MVC members St. Dominic Academy and Madison each went 14-2 to clinch the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds, respectively. The Saints are the defending state champion.

Lisbon earned the No. 5 seed with an 11-5 record, and will be the highest-ranked team in the prelims. The Greyhounds draw No. 11 Carrabec in the opening round. Dirigo, the No. 9 seed, will travel to No. 8 Old Orchard Beach in the prelims. The rebuilding Cougars finished better than they started, and were the only team besides Monmouth to beat St. Dom’s this year.

Class D South

Defending state champion Searsport will look to repeat with the No. 1 seed in its hands. The Vikings went 13-3 to top the regional standings. Despite playing two fewer games than other teams, 12-2 Valley earned the No. 2 seed.

With eight teams qualifying for the playoffs nobody in the bracket gets a first-round bye.

Searsport draws No. 8 Buckfield in the quarterfinals. The Vikings won both regular-season meetings — each in the final three games — by comfortable margins.

Rangeley earned the No. 5 seed and will travel to face another Lakers team, No. 4 Greenville, in the first round. The visiting Lakers only got in 13 games this season, going 8-5, and didn’t face Greenville. But they do enter the playoffs on a three-game winning streak, including a 10-9 win over No. 3 Richmond.
