In 2015, when Auburn Mayor Jonathan Labonte was campaigning for re-election, he announced at a candidates forum that one of the biggest goals for his next term was planning for and securing funding for the new high school that Auburn desperately needed. That would include establishing a world-class, blue-ribbon committee, whose appointees would include the pillars of the community and who would exhaustively study the project from head to toe and make recommendations that would, hopefully, lead to a new high school.

Now in 2016, after his re-election, I have not read of any such efforts, nor have I read much about the planned Chinese multi-million dollar investment into an old mill in Auburn that was in shambles. It is to become the center of a Chinese-Auburn multi-million dollar medical tourism business.

Was the 2015 rhetoric just campaign hogwash? If not, the city has not done a very good job of keeping this interested senior citizen taxpayer informed.
