Trail work day on Fly Rod Crosby Trail June 11
MADRID — The High Peaks Alliance will clean up a section of the Fly Rod Crosby Trail on Saturday, June 11.
Members will meet at the Madrid trailhead at 9 a.m. Return time is about 3 p.m.
The work site is about 1 mile along a section of the Fly Rod Crosby Trail overlooking the Hardy Stream. The work will be clearing, rerouting and maintaining short sections of trail. Tools will be provided.
This will be a moderately strenuous hike at over 1,500 feet with sweeping views of Saddleback and Saddleback Junior.
Attendees should dress for the weather and bring lunch, snacks, gloves, water and sturdy hiking shoes.

AARP meeting June 13
PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet at noon on Monday, June 13, at the First Congregational Church on East Main Street, South Paris.
A macaroni and cheese lunch will be served at noon. Cost is $7, and reservations are required by June 10 by calling 207-744-9069.
The business meeting will begin at 12:45 p.m. Donations to fill bags for shut-ins will be accepted, as well as for the local food pantry.
Plans for the summer outing will be finalized.
Millen speaker at Historical Society
PARIS — The Paris Cape Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at 77 High St., South Paris.
There will be a brief business meeting.
Wayne Millen of West Paris will speak on his work with the National Forest Service and as an independent logger. Refreshments will follow.
Everyone is welcome.
The museum is open Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. Genealogies, town histories and other research materials are available.
