WALES — Oak Hill High School has announced its delegates for Girls and Boys State. Students are sponsored by the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary.

The programs teach students how government works while developing leadership skills. Boys State will take place at Thomas College in Waterville and Girls State will take place at Husson University in Bangor, both in June.

Boys State delegates:

Marcus Bailey: He has been a member of the Future Business Leaders of America for four years and received several awards, including a varsity letter. He played basketball, baseball and lacrosse for three years and has his varsity letters in basketball and lacrosse. He has volunteered for Farm Day and ran the recycling portion of the event. He is the son of Lisa Bailey of Litchfield.

Collin Clark: He is vice president of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Club, a member of the National Honor Society, a member of the Yearbook Committee and yearbook editor. He has his varsity letter in soccer and plays baseball and basketball. He is a patrol leader in his Boy Scout troop. He volunteers at Rousseau Management Senior Living, the Sabattus Recreation Club and Pleasant Hill Cemetery. He received the Teacher’s Award at Raider Recognition and the Tyler Technology second place award in the State of Maine Computer Application Challenge. He is the son of Tracy LaBerge of Sabattus and David Clark of Wales.

Jeremiah Childs: He is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, the STEM Club, the National Honor Society and the Oak Hill High School Band. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 698 of Litchfield and is a senior patrol leader, currently completing his Eagle Scout qualifications. He has played soccer for three years and has his varsity letter in the sport. He works part time at Applewald Farm in Litchfield. He is the son of Brent and Jessica Childs of Litchfield.

Matthew Strout: He is a member of the National Honor Society, STEM Club, Math Team, Future Business Leaders of America, Oak Hill Legislative Assembly, and the Academic Decathlon. He has received 20 awards through the Future Business Leaders of America. He has played football and basketball and has his varsity letter in both sports. He was also selected as an all-state defensive end for the Campbell Football Conference – Classes B, C and D. His volunteer work includes coaching youth football, video editing/production for sports events, working the concessions at sports events and working at the Republican caucuses and as a county committee member. His work experience includes part-time work at Barefoot Properties LLC of Sabattus and Strout CPA. He is the son of Deborah and Gordon Strout of Sabattus.

Girls State delegates:

Halee Lair: She is a member of the National Honor Society, Math Team, Drama Club, Prom Committee, Government and Politics Club, and is vice president of the Oak Hill Legislative Assembly. She has her varsity letter in soccer. She participated in the Androscoggin Valley Educational Collaborative in science and was a 2015 Miss Maine Teen Pageant representative. She tutors students in math and also volunteers at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, at the Consumer Credit Counseling Services, the Jessie Albert Dental Center, and assists Oak Hill High School during parent/teacher conferences. She will be attending the Husson University Pharmacy Camp and the University of New England Dental Camp this summer. She is the daughter of Rebecca and Lou Maranda of Litchfield.

Kaitlyn Lemay: She is a member of the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, where she holds the position of group commander. She is a member of the Drama Club, Civil Rights Team, and Kitty Hawk Air Society. She participated in the Androscoggin Valley Educational Conference for writing. She is the daughter of Brad and Jennifer Lemay of Litchfield.

Hannah M. Nadeau: She is a member of the National Honor Society, Math Team, Ski Club, Oak Hill High School Band, Future Business Leaders of America, Prom Committee, Drama Club, and is secretary of the Oak Hill Legislative Assembly. She is vice president of her class and has varsity letters in soccer and softball and has participated in the Androscoggin Valley Educational Collaborative in history. She is the daughter of Scott and Melinda Nadeau of Litchfield.

Cassidy Tibbetts: She is a member of the National Honor Society, Math Team, Prom Committee, Oak Hill High School Band, Future Business Leaders of America, and Sports Boosters. She is a member of the soccer, tennis and basketball teams and has varsity letters in all three sports. She was selected to participate in the John Phillip Sousa Honors Band at the state level for 2016. She is also a member of 4-H and Modern Woodmen of America Junior Club. She participated in the Androscoggin Valley Educational Collaborative in art and music. She has worked as a summer camp counselor for the Lewiston Summer Program. She is the daughter of Elizabeth and Clyde Tibbetts of Litchfield.
