1951 – 2016

ROSWELL, Ga. — Rev. Cynthia Louise Prescott, 64, of Pendleton, S.C., died in Roswell, Ga., on Saturday, May 28.

Cynthia was born in Lewiston on Dec. 2, 1951, to William and Barbara (Perkins) Prescott.

A graduate of Mills College with a degree in English, Rev. Prescott worked in fashion merchandising, marketing and graphic design before attending Starr King School for the Ministry, where she received her Master of Divinity degree. She was ordained as a Unitarian Universalist Minister in Auburn in 1998 and served congregations in South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia from 1998 until her untimely death.

Cynthia was a gifted preacher and a caring daughter and friend, with a passion for travel, cats, literature, poetry and beautiful things of all kinds. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by the people who loved her and the congregations she served.

She is survived by her father and her cousins, Nancy Sylvester of Leeds, Robert Knowles of Monmouth, Mary Newman of Leeds, Peter Perkins of Litchfield, Robert Perkins of Greene, Jim Chadburn of Hernando, Fla., Ann Thurlow of Prince Edward Island, Canada, David Thurlow of Montpelier, Vt., and Douglas Thurlow of Madison, Wis.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her mother in 2002.
