WINTHROP — Kennebec Land Trust announces its upcoming programs in June and early July:

Mushroom Identification Walk: 10 a.m. Sunday, June 26, Small-Burnham Conservation Area, Litchfield. Dusty Small and Teague Morris, Small-Burnham Conservation Area property owners and mushroom enthusiasts, will lead a discussion and mushroom identification walk. The program will begin with a brief presentation focusing on the value of mushrooms for human health as well as responsible foraging and harvesting techniques, followed by a foraging walk around the 250-acre Small Burnham Conservation area. Meet at the Small-Burnham Conservation Area parking lot and trailhead. Bring a collection basket, a pocket knife and a hand lens. All ages welcome. Space is limited. Maine’s Stream Fish Populations: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, Ladd Recreation Center, Wayne. This event is the third evening of KLT’s Annual Lyceum Series. Merry Gallagher, research fishery biologist with the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, will discuss stream fish ecology, native stream conservation and fish community patterns across Maine.

Loons, Eagles and Osprey on Androscoggin Lake: 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 14. Program presented in partnership with 30 Mile River Watershed Association. Lisa Kane, education coordinator at the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, will teach about the loons, eagles and osprey of Androscoggin Lake. She will present a short natural history program onshore, then attendees will head out on pontoon boats for a two-hour tour. Those attending should bring water to drink and binoculars. Meeting spot TBA. Cost is $15 for adults, $5 for children ages 8 to 18, free for ages 7 and younger. Rain/wind date is Friday, July 15. Space is limited. KLT Property Pedal Bike Tour: 1 p.m. Sunday, July 17. The Trust’s Stewardship Director Jean-Luc Theriault will host the group’s first bike tour and highlight a number of the Trust’s most scenic properties. Two routes are planned: a 17-mile loop around Parker Pond in Mount Vernon and Fayette, and a 36-mile route through North Wayne and Readfield.
