AUBURN — Assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. will arrive Sunday, July 17, as part of the Auburn Police Department’s voluntary law enforcement reaccreditation process.
Assessors will examine all aspects of the department’s policies, procedures, management, operations and support services.
Community members are invited to offer comments at a public information session at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, in the City Council chambers on the second floor of Auburn Hall, 60 Court St.
Those unable to attend who wish to provide public comment may call 207-333-6605 between 1 and 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 19.
Telephone comments as well as appearances at the public information session must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA standards, a copy of which is available at the Auburn Police Department.

The Auburn Police Department must comply with 484 core accreditation standards to gain re-accreditation status. Accreditation is granted for three years.
