Our Catholic Charities SEARCH program (Seek Elderly Alone, Renew Courage and Hope) relies almost entirely on the help of volunteers to provide friendly visiting and transportation support to lonely and isolated seniors who live alone throughout Androscoggin County. Many of the seniors in our program seek companionship or socialization opportunities as they may live alone and have no transportation, so they need help with getting out into their communities for errands, grocery shopping or to appointments.

Our program provides orientation training and ongoing support for our volunteers. If you have three to four hours a week to give to a senior from your own community, or would like to be matched with a senior in the Lisbon area, please call our office at (207) 784-0157. We hope you will volunteer with us and make a difference in the life of a senior in your community.

Thank you again for your support in continuing to help promote our valuable program as we continue to promote community volunteerism and support seniors in our communities. — Wendy Russell, Program Director.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Catholic Financial Life Chapter N413 would like to thank you for your continued support of our annual fundraiser for “Free the Kids” in Haiti. You made a difference in the lives of these poor Haitian orphans. We are also grateful to the donors for their generosity. With their contributions, we were able to raise over $8,700. Hopefully, we can count on your help again next May. — Jean, No Town.

ANSWER: Happy to help promote your good work. This world needs caring people like you.
