LISBON — Breeann Sautter and Jake Angelico, two Lisbon High School graduates, are this year’s recipients of George E. McCarthy scholarships.

Sautter will attend St. Joseph’s College in Standish, and Angelico will attend the University of Southern Maine.

McCarthy was a longtime resident of Lisbon who wanted to give back to his community by providing a trust for annual scholarships to Lisbon graduates. Upon his death in 1986, the trust was established.

Each year, one is awarded to a male student and one to a female student.

Since 1987, $192,600 has been awarded to graduates.
