1928 – 2016

YARMOUTH — Eloise T. Begin of Harpswell, and formerly of Auburn, died Saturday, June 25, at the Coastal Manor Nursing Facility, where she resided for the past two and a half months. She considered Auburn her home and resided with her stepbrother, Wilfrid M. Fournier and his late wife, Lorraine, on Washington Street in Auburn for many years.

Born in Tilton, N.H., on March 30, 1928, a daughter of Edgar and Bernadette Bechard Begin, she was a former member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish at Sacred Heart Church and St. Louis Church in Auburn.

Eloise will be remembered for being a kind and gentle lady who shared life with many friends and relatives. She had a passion for strawberry picking, clam digging and embroidery. Every season her focus was the celebration of each holiday, birthday and any other reason she came up with to create fun and gifts for all of the children she knew, including handmade Easter baskets and Christmas wreaths.

Eloise’s true gift was her genuine care and kindness toward everyone she met. She was generous with her possessions and always had a smile and the loving gesture of a hug. She always saw the good side of every situation and the best in those she encountered.

She is survived by her stepbrother, Wilfrid M. Fournier; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the amazing staff at Coastal Manor for their excellent care. Despite her short stay at the facility, she felt the comfort of being with family.
