TURNER — Larry Sirois, SAD 52 Adult Education math teacher, was recently honored as Teacher of the Year at the Maine Adult Education Association annual conference in Farmington.

For more than 20 years, Sirois has been a math teacher for SAD 52 Adult Education. He also held a distinguished career in the Maine House of Representatives, was a math teacher at Edward Little High School in Auburn and a Maine state high school basketball referee.

SAD 52 Adult Education Director Razell Ward said, “As an educator for more than 30 years, Larry not only demonstrates support for his students at all learning levels, but he has also continued to grow and learn as a professional; taking coursework to support instructional strategies, aligning coursework to standards, uses a wide variety of teaching techniques; all the while remaining aware of the unique learning styles and levels of each student. The sum of his credentials and experience are shadowed by his sincere dedication and compassion for each of his students. Our program is honored and proud to have a teacher of such caliber work with our students and staff.”

MAEA is a nonprofit representing adult education programs, professionals and volunteers since 1965. It presents an annual conference to bring together teachers, support staff and administrators from the 78 Adult Education programs across the state.
