ROXBURY — The Board of Selectmen is moving forward with plans to build a salt and sand shed, Selectman Tim Derouche said Thursday morning.
He said A.E. Hodsdon in Waterville has been hired to design a building to hold 450 tons of salt and 3,000 cubic yards of sand. Last year, voters approved $16,400 for engineering costs. This year, they raised $50,000 toward construction.
Derouche predicted it could be another few years before the town can raise enough money to build the shed.
“We don’t have an exact number right now,” he said. “The ballpark number is $200,000.”
Derouche said the amount of money the town can raise in a year depends on the Regional School Unit 10 budget.
“We’ll have to continue raising money in future years,” he said. “My guess is that it might take anywhere between two and three years.”
In other business, Derouche said the town will schedule a public hearing on a resident purchasing town land near Silver Lake Campground. The person wants to “build some type of business.”
He described the property as “more of a wetland.”
