School of Masonry second year program

AVON — Maine School of Masonry announced a second year program has been added to the curriculum.

The course program is in historic brick and stone restoration. The course is open to anyone that has an interest in historic building conservation.

The program will begin in September and end in May, 2017.

Olde Home Days road race

ANDOVER — The 12th annual Andover Olde Home Days road race will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Andover Elementary School, 85 Pine St.

Races include a 4.5 mile open run road race, a 1-mile fun run for boys and girls younger than 15 and a 1-mile open walk.

Registration takes place from 7 to 7:45 a.m. Pre-registration through July 25 is $15 for the 4.5-mile race, $5 for 1-mile; after, the 4.5-mile race will be $20. Payment may be sent to Andover Service Circle, 187 East Andover Road, East Andover ME 04226. T-shirts are guaranteed to those who pre-register.

Republican Committee to talk marijuana

MINOT — The Androscoggin County Republican Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, July 18, at the Minot Town Office, 329 Woodman Hill Road.

The  meeting is open to all registered republicans.

The guest speakers will discuss Question 1, Proposing legalizing marijuana: David Boyer will speak for Question 1 and Scott Gagnon will speak against it.

CPR, first aid class planned 

OXFORD — There will be a CPR and first aid class at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at the Oxford Public Safety Building.

Participants will learn basic first aid, adult, child and infant CPR and how to use use of an AED. On successful completion of the one-day class, students will receive a two-year certification in accordance with the American Heart Association.

The certificate course is accepted for daycare, loggers, guides, teachers and any other nonhealthcare-related professions.

Groups may also request to schedule a class at their location and convenience.

Healthcare BLS CPR recertification is done as needed one on one.

Afternoon Delight Trap Shooting

PARIS — The Norway-Paris Fish & Game Association will host area sportsmen and women to Afternoon Delight Trap Shooting from 5 to 8p.m. Thursdays, 744 Buckfield Road.

Instructors will be on hand to work with shooters, and shotgun shells will be available. 

The event is open to those who are new to the sport or would like to try it and to see the facility. Old hands who shoot  perfect round will receive n NPF&G patch. Everyone is welcome.

Adams Family Reunion

WILTON — The 139th annual reunion of the descendants of Moses and Martha Kinney Adams will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, in the Reunion Barn at Kineowatha Park.

A potluck lunch will be followed by a business meeting.
