State-sponsored construction projects like Lewiston’s Main Street Bridge came back to life Wednesday at the end of a state government shutdown. But all was not well. “We’ve got a lot of problems,” said Thomas Doe of the Maine Department of Transportation. “We’ve got contractors who picked up their operations and went home and won’t go back until we pay them (a) fee to remobilize. This (shutdown) is going to be a very, very costly measure. Somebody is going to have to pay for it,” he said. “We couldn’t do any work on the bridge for 10 days, “complained Dennis Hanson, project manager for The Diaz Corp. of Jay, the contractor doing the Main Street Bridge rehabilitation. “My employees lost some time. They weren’t real happy,” Hanson said.
