WMPM movie location change

WILTON — Western Maine Play Museum has changed the venue for the kids’ movie for Friday, Aug. 5.

Because of extended reconstruction on the building, the movie will instead be held at Bass Park at the foot of Wilson Lake in Wilton at dusk.

Guided nature walks at Norlands

LIVERMORE — As part of Norlands’ living history tour days, associate naturalist with the Maine Master Naturalist Program Anthony Underwood will lead a guided nature walk on a historic carriage trail at 12:30 p.m. Saturdays, Aug. 6 and 13.

Walkers will visit two reflecting pools designed in 1903 and learn about the changing landscape while exploring trees, flowers, and living creatures on, above, and possibly below the trail.

Participants should wear sturdy footwear and prepare for a slight incline on the return trip. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The walk is free, but donations suggested. Regular admission applies for tours of the historic buildings.

Those attending should park by the church and meet in front of the one-room schoolhouse at 290 Norlands Road in Livermore.

Heritage Society open house

WEST PARIS — The Finnish American Heritage Society will host an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sundays through Aug. 28, at 8 Maple St.

The hall will not be open Sunday, Aug. 21. 

All are invited to stop by, cool off, share in the coffee and pastries and visit the museum and gift shop.

Food drive Aug. 8-12

STRONG – Strong Area Health and Dental Center will hold a food drive in celebration of National Community Health Center Week Monday to Friday, Aug. 8 to 12.

All donations benefit the United Methodist Economic Ministry in Salem.

High protein donations such as peanut butter, canned chicken, beans or tuna are encouraged. Items can be dropped off in the health center’s waiting room at 177 North Main St.

Bridge club lists results

OXFORD — Oxford Hills Bridge Club met Friday, July 22, in the Rec. building on King Street.  A 10½ table Mitchell movement was enjoyed.

Finishing first in flight A N/S were Neanie Kivus and David Lock; second, Mike Quinn and Mike True; third, Misha Tomic and Mike Newsom; and fourth, Pete Cummings and Dick Allen; first in flight B were Jim Krainin and Milt McKeen Jr.; second, Marlee Turner and Cathy Sanderson, also first in flight C; third in B were Karen McNeil and Martha Levesque, also second in flight C; and fourth in B were Cindy and Bob Kirchherr, also third in flight C.

Finishing first in flight A E/W were Richard Balian and Paul Clement; second, Norma and Rick Verrill, also first in flight B; third in A were Diana and Frank Ferland, also second in B and first in flight C; Fourth in A were Georgette Jewell and Pat Soule, also third in B; fourth in flight B were Carol Correard and Dave Kallander, also third in C; and fourth in C were Carolyn and David Ehrman.
