1963 – 2016

LEWISTON — Douglas Dean Stevens, 53, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 2.

He was born in Portland on March 30, 1963, the son of Wallace and Barbara Stevens. He grew up in Harrison. Throughout his life, Douglas enjoyed several wonderful programs and group homes. In 1999, he moved into Lori Dean’s group home in West Paris where he spent 15 years. He lived his later years with Community Partners at 24 Old Lisbon Road in Lewiston while enjoying time at the Social Learning Center.

Douglas enjoyed biking, swimming, riding horses, writing letters, the circus and blowing bubbles. He loved listening to his records and trying to stump everyone with spelling games. His favorite holiday was Christmas and he kept his room decorated year round.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara (Peary) Stevens; his brothers, Russell Stevens and wife, Jana, of Sumner, Michael Stevens and wife, Nancy, of Medfield, Mass. and Keith Stevens of South Paris; his nieces and nephews, Rusty, Tyler, Cassidy, Kalle, Derek and Matthew. Douglas was predeceased by his father, Wallace A. Stevens.
