1950 – 2016
LEWISTON — On Thursday, Aug. 4, Jeanie’s family held hands, forming a circle of love with her as she left her physical body behind.
Jeanie was born on July 18, 1950, the daughter of Albert and Alexina (Bouchard) LaChance. She attended Auburn schools, graduating from Edward Little High School in the Class of 1968.
On Sept. 20, 1969, she married, David Burnham, the only man she would laugh, cry, and share her whole life and heart with. If you see him, please give him a hug and lend him an ear. In her honor, let him feel the love and compassion she gave to you.
She enjoyed the many years she worked at Taylor Brook Video because she looked forward to seeing and talking to her customers. She was also a crossing guard for the city of Auburn. She was always so excited to see “her kids” at the beginning of each school year, and so sad to see them go when they moved on. She loved being with people. She wanted to know how everyone was and to make sure that they were ok. Her heart was open to anyone in need.
Jeanie loved reading, singing, critiquing movies, gardening, cooking, and crafting. Her generosity was selfless and endless. She always had many projects going, the majority of which were to give to friends, family and organizations like the Special Olympics, Children’s hospitals, the Dempsey Center and the like. She loved to feel like she helped someone in need and looked forward to sharing her talents.
There was nothing that meant more to her than her family. That family included her life long friends, her “Sister Bee,” and “the kids” — the daughters and sons she gained through the loss of her son, Devin.
She is survived by her husband, David; her daughter, Shane C. Dufour and son-in-law, Alfred of Jay; her mother, Alexina Caron of New Auburn; her brother, Dickie LaChance and his wife, Janice, of Lewiston; sisters-in-law, Patty Burnham, Betty Burnham, Sandra Tufts and her husband, William, Nancy Fournier, and brother-in-law, Freddy Burnham; her Sister Bee, Marcia White and her husband, Alan White; “her kids,” Michael LeClair, Matt Therriault and his wife, Tiffany, and their son, Norton, Megan Harris and her husband, Brett Cantral, and their daughter, Penny; and many others.
She is predeceased by her son, Devin; father, Albert “Sammy” LaChance; brother, Ronald LaChance; mother-in-law, Florence Tarckini; father-in-law, Carol Burnham, and her special friend, Ray Christner.
