LOVELL — Bennett & Perkins will perform at Lovell’s Brick Church for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11.

The duo performs an eclectic blend of original music and its own arrangements of a wide variety of works by songwriters around the world. While folk is a cornerstone influence for the two, their music borrows from Americana, roots, bluegrass and blues.

Multi-instrumentalist Taylor Whiteside will join the duo. He was a member of the Northeast Winds and The Brandywine Singers before developing a reputation as a solo artist and songwriter in his own right. Whiteside will back up Bennett & Perkins on mandolin and fiddle.

Bennett & Perkins both bring vocal and guitar playing abilities to the stage. Perkins began playing guitar at age 8 and was playing country fairs and coffeehouses from Connecticut to California in the 1960s. His guitar playing is influenced by blues and ragtime and is often compared to Richard Thompson and Jim Kweskin.

Bennett is a classically trained vocalist who also began playing guitar as a child. On her own, she plays an eclectic mix of blues, rock and folk. Before relocating to the North Country in 2002, she performed at clubs and coffeehouses in the Boston area and has opened for artists such as Martin Sexton.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger.
