1937 – 2016

LEWISTON — Florence Ann Houle, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 31, following a short illness.

She was born June 19, 1937, in Gardiner. She was the wife of Gerry Houle, whom she loved dearly.

Florence was well-known in the community as the “Bike Lady.” She loved spending all of her time attending church, going to school, and being with family and friends. She was also a hard worker for many years at Whiting’s Farm in Auburn. She was a soldier in the Salvation Army in Lewiston.

In 2015, Florence reached her goal and completed her adult education program. Because she enjoyed it so much, she was disappointed when she could no longer attend school. Receiving her certificate was a highlight of her life.

Florence is survived by her adopted family, the Bergerons of Lewiston. They took Florence in many years ago, and would like to thank those who loved and looked after her: the Salvation Army Church, Christ Temple Church, the Whiting family, the Lewiston Police Department, Simones’ Hot Dogs, Paul’s Clothing, Hope Haven, Lewiston Adult Education, and many other friends. Florence will be missed by many.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gerry, on Dec. 27, 2013.
