JAY — The Greater Franklin Development Council is developing a new website to include an online database of available commercial building and site listings.

The website will replace the existing www.greaterfranklin.com. It’s expected to be up and running in late fall.

Morgan Spencer, executive assistant for the council, visited the Jay Board of Selectpersons on Monday to discuss plans for the new website and the forms available for property listings.

The idea is to create a positive representation of the properties available for businesses to start up or expand operations. The council wants to include high-quality images and maps that would be updated frequently.

“What we need is help spreading the word,” she told selectpersons.

It was Spencer’s first presentation to town officials in the greater Franklin County area. She will be visiting other towns’ boards and chambers of commerce to spread the word.

The commercial building and site forms require the names of the buildings and sites, addresses, building and land contact information, property features, property classification and what type of communication capabilities are available, including DSL and cable.

Spencer said she will email digital copies of the forms to those interested. She may be contacted by email at mspencer@greaterfranklin.com or by calling 207-778-5887.

“We would just like to get the ball running on this before we get the website up,” she said.
