1926 – 2016
LISBON — Theresa P. Brooks, 90, of Lisbon passed away at home with her family by her side and made her entrance into Heaven on Sunday, Aug. 7. Jesus took her to the best church ever on the day of the week that He set aside for rest, a day to be kept holy.
She was born in Van Buren on March 17, 1926, to Thomas and Gertrude Ouellette as one of 17 children. I guess you could say that is where her love of family began. She married Blaine Brooks on Oct. 4, 1947 — her best friend who has prayed with and for her, loved her, and shared his love for family and God with her throughout their 68 years of marriage together.
She was a lover of her Jesus and of her family. She persevered through so much that life threw her way, and she never lost her faith throughout it. She was a trooper. She lived and loved in a way that her life itself was a testament, it left a mark on all of those who were blessed enough to walk out a part of this journey with her. And she had such a sense of humor, she loved making people laugh. “Live every moment, laugh every day, love beyond words” — that is what she did.
She was beautiful, in every sense. There aren’t words to describe how much she will be missed on this side. She has left behind quite a legacy in her five children and their spouses, Chuck and Sherri Brooks, Barbara and Bryant Michaud, Deborah and Barry Houston, Kip and Debbie Brooks, and Faith and Dave Perron, as well as in her 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She loved her family with the most raw and unconditional love. Aside from her husband, kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she leaves behind two sisters, Diane Ouellette and Gertrude Matthews; as well as several nieces and nephews who all meant so much to her.
To the woman known as Theresa, Hun, Mama and Meme: Well done, good and faithful servant. Thank you for the foundation of faith and family that you have played such a huge part in laying for us. You are so loved, and we will see you again.
