LEWISTON — Maine Event Comedy will debut at the 24th Annual Great Falls Balloon Festival at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, on the Main Stage at Simard-Payne Memorial Park in Lewiston.
The show will feature five of New England’s funniest comedians including Jerry Caruso, Mark Reilly, Dawn Hartill, Peter Ouellette and host Mark Turcotte.
The featured comedian, Jerry Caruso, is a 23-year veteran of the Boston scene. He is co-founder of “Comics for a Cure” and has worked with “Larry The Cable Guy,” Lisa Lampinelli and Anthony Clarke. His impressions of celebrities, rock n’ roll stars and politicians, along with clever song parodies, continue to keep audiences laughing throughout New England.
Mark Reilly, who moonlights as a U.S. mail carrier, was a finalist in Portland’s Got Talent and a semi-finalist in Portland’s Funniest Professional contest. He recently performed at the World Series of Comedy in Boston and the Broken Record Show in the Wild West Comedy Festival in Nashville, Tennessee.
Hartill, a Lewiston resident, is the 2016 winner of the Strand Cup Comedy Competition and was a quarter-finalist in The Couch Summer Comedy Classic in Portland. Ouellette is from Auburn and his material ranges from life as a newlywed to social commentary on the millennial generation.
Turcotte was a recent selection to the Boston, Cleveland and North Carolina comedy festivals; was a semi-finalist in the 2016 World Series of Comedy; and was a finalist in the Funniest Comic on the East Coast Contest.
There is no admission fee to the Great Falls Balloon Festival. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on at the outdoor event, as seating is not provided.
