LEWISTON — Two men accused of robbing a local pharmacy of opiate-based drugs were charged Friday in Augusta with a similar crime.

Dakota Madore, 19, of Monmouth and Troy Severance, 36, of Litchfield were indicted by a Kennebec County grand jury in Augusta on charges of robbery and stealing drugs. The first felony is punishable by up to 10 years in prison; the second, up to five years.

Court papers said the two men threatened a worker at a Hannaford pharmacy in China on April 25 in an effort to steal OxyContin.

Both men are awaiting trial on the same two charges stemming from the robbery of a Lewiston CVS pharmacy in May. They were indicted earlier this month by an Androscoggin County grand jury.

Authorities said one of the men entered a CVS store on Sabattus Street on May 4 shortly before 9 p.m., wearing sunglasses, a skeleton mask and a hood over his head.

He showed a note to the pharmacist, demanding oxycodone and saying he didn’t want to shoot anybody. No weapon was displayed.

The pharmacist turned over an undisclosed amount of the drug before the suspect fled on foot, police said. They did not specify whether they believe it was Madore or Severance who went into CVS to commit the robbery.

Authorities located Severance at a Winthrop motel, where he was arrested; Madore was tracked down in Wales, where he was taken into custody.

Both men are being held at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn. Madore is being held in lieu of $5,000 cash bail; Severance, $7,500 cash.
