1932 – 2016

WEST PARIS — Therese Margaret Guy Ivey, 84, of South Paris passed away after a long illness Thursday morning, Aug. 18, with family by her side at Ledgeview Living Center.

Therese was born Aug. 14, 1932, in Millinocket, the oldest daughter of Frank Russell and Lena (Lagasse) Guy. She attended Millinocket schools and graduated from Stearns High School in 1950. Therese married Robert Ivey Jr. on May 1, 1954. She graduated from Madigan Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Houlton in September 1954. She worked at the Madigan Memorial Hospital until 1968.

After marrying Robert, she moved to Bermuda where Robert was stationed at the U.S. Naval Base. They returned to Houlton in 1956, where they resided until 1970, when they moved to Norway.

Therese loved to do crafts, sewing and knitting. She was a member of the Muffin Club, also known as the OFG, with whom she met weekly to socialize and do crafts. She also loved to travel and did so often. Her favorite trip was to Hawaii for her and Robert’s 25th anniversary. Therese was active in the Cooperative Extension in South Paris and volunteered in the Oxford Hills School District as her children attended school.

She is survived by her husband, Robert B. Ivey Jr.; their seven children, Rhonda Lentini and husband, Alex, of Cromwell, Conn., Sharon Skolfield and husband, Dan, of Lisbon Falls, Michele Cote and her partner, Paul, of Auburn, David and his wife, Jane, of Hyde Park, Mass., Robert and his wife, Sue, of Oxford, Steven and his wife, Pearl, of Norway, and Christopher and his partner, Lisa, of South Paris; seven grandchildren, William, Amanda, Heather, Kyle, McKayla, Isabella, and Rebecca; two great-grandchildren, Hari-Das and Naveen; as well as her sister, Bonnie Bilodeau and her husband, John, of Virginia Beach, Va.

She is predeceased by her parents, Lena Ethel Lagasse Guy and Frank Russell Guy Jr.; a brother, Frank Russell Guy III; and her sisters, Lottie Reese and Mary Coyne.

She will be greatly missed by her loving family, friends and the special caregivers from Ledgeview Living Center and Beacon Hospice.
