WILTON — Joseph and Erma (Seamon) Grimaldi of Jay celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on July 12. The event took place at the Calzolaio Banquet Room (former G.H. Bass Co.)

The celebration was hosted by their four children, Valerie Richard of Mexico, Susan Moulton of Westbrook, Jill Houle of Alpena, Michigan, and Michael J. Grimaldi of Jay. Their grandchildren are Wesley Norton of Jay, Arielle Jasmin of Michigan, Greg Houle of Oregon, Katie Moulton of New Hampshire and Joe Moulton of Westbrook.

The couple was married on July 12, 1946, in Farmington. Serving as maid of honor was Erma’s sister, Eleanor (Seamon) Adams. A reception was held at the farm.

Mr. Grimaldi was employed by G.H. Bass. Co. as a handsewer, retiring as the superintendent. Mrs. Grimaldi was the switchboard operator for G.H. Bass Co. They traveled extensively with their motor home, flew to Michigan and Montana, and enjoyed landscaping.

An anniversary cake was served. A large beautiful arrangement with red roses on a bed of white roses displaying “70” was sent by their nephew, Robert Grimaldi of Montana. A brother-in-law, Don Vale of Connecticut, told stories. Melanie Johnson (niece) made a large poster displaying pictures. A surprise was their grandson, Nicholas Jasmin of Florida and fiancee, Katie, of Michigan. Also, grandchildren Wesley Norton of Jay, Arielle Jasmin of Michigan, Greg Houle of Oregon, Katie Moulton of New Hampshire, Joe Moulton of Westbrook and Jessica Moulton of Cape Neddick.

Guests came from Mexico, Westbrook, Jay, New Gloucester, Windham, Freeport, Wilton, Chesterville, Strong and Starks, as well as from the states of Hawaii, Connecticut, New York, New Hampshire and Michigan.
