RUMFORD — A Mass of Christian Burial for Irene R. Gagnon, of Rumford, was celebrated Saturday, Aug. 20, at 10 a.m., at Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius – St. John Church, Rumford with the Rev. Nathan March as celebrant.

Altar assistant was Bernard Poirier. Organist was Mark Belanger. Music selections included “Hosea,” “Because the Lord Is My Shepherd,” “Eye Has Not Seen” and “On Eagle’s Wings.” Readings from the Old Testament from the Book of Wisdom and from the New Testament from the First Letter of Paul to the Romans were proclaimed by Stephen Merrow. The eulogy written by Irene’s sister, Lillian Chase, was given by Stephen Merrow. The Prayers of the Faithful was proclaimed by Paulette Puiia. The gifts were presented by Irene’s nieces, Gayle McDevitt and Doreen Dupuis. Committal services were conducted by the Rev. Nathan Dube.

Interment was at St. John Cemetery in Rumford. Pallbearers were Eric and Stephen Merrow, Wilson and Peter Gagnon, Rick Green and Peter Cox. A reception followed at the home of Gayle McDevitt in Rumford.

Arrangements were under the care of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford.
