Ballin’ for Breast Cancer

AUBURN — The fourth annual Ballin’ for Breast Cancer basketball tournament hosted by Adam Turner will be held Saturday, Sept. 3, at The Gully on Chestnut Street.

The three-on-three tournament will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation. 

Registration will be from 8:30 to 11 a.m. with tip-off at 11:15 a.m. The cost is $10 per player, with a $150 grand prize.

There will be activities for children and refreshments.

Pickwick discussing “Our Mutual Friend”

AUBURN — The Pickwick Club, Maine’s Charles Dickens discussion group,will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Auburn Public Library to discuss “Our Mutual Friend, Books 1 and 2.”

Children’s Foundation accepting grant requests

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Auburn Children’s Foundation is now accepting grant request applications for the 2016 fiscal year.

For nearly 40 years, the foundation has awarded grants annually to individuals and organizations whose programs directly benefit children in the Lewiston-Auburn community.

Some of the grant recipients for 2015 were Trinity Jubilee Center’s diaper program, Lewiston High School’s Store Next Door project, New Beginnings’ Food Pantry and SHARE Center for a die-cut machine.

Applications may be submitted by Oct. 21 to P.O. Box 7155, Lewiston, ME 04243-7155.

Holy Trinity seeking crafters

LISBON — Holy Trinity Catholic Church will hold its Christmas fair on Nov. 19.

Food will be available to purchase, and there will be raffles.

Tables are available for anyone interested in selling their Christmas crafts.
