Haiti Celebration Aug. 27
GREENE — Manna, Melody and Medicine, a ministry from the Farmington area, will host a Haiti Celebration from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Greene Christian Community Church on Route 202.
There will be food and music, and visitors will can meet a pastor from Haiti as well as families and doctors who have traveled there.
The event is free.
Chaplain returning, speaking in Turner
TURNER — The Rev. Jeffrey Martin Young will speak at the North Turner Union Presbyterian Church at 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, 58 Howes Corner Road.
Young served ministries in Turner, Livermore, Leeds, Hartford, Wales and Sumner in the mid 1970s. Young left parish ministry in 1980 when he was called to active duty as a chaplain at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He started chaplaincy in the 133rd Engineer Battalion (Combat Heavy) in the Maine National Guard based in Portland.
The Rev. Young is a decorated chaplain who counseled and ministered to service men, women and their families for three decades in posts around the globe. Young worked with soldiers in Germany, Bosnia, Kosovo, Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan.
A reception will follow immediately after the service. Everyone is welcome to attend.
