NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine has announced its September activities. All activities are free to those impacted by cancer.
The center is located at 199 Main St. in the Stephens Memorial Hospital Specialty Clinic building. Drop-in hours are Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m
Volunteers are available to provide comfort items such as port protectors, wigs, hats, pillows or to find resources. Brochures and the lending library are available for use.
Stampin’ Up with Kathy is back this month, and the center has added a Guided Meditation Gathering.
The center will be closed Friday, Sept. 2, in observance of Labor Day.
Stampin’ Up with Kathy: 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6. Participants will make cards.
Coloring for Adults: 1 to 2 p.m. Thursdays.
Cards and Games: 1 to 2:30 p.m. Fridays.
Yoga for Wellness: 8 to 9 a.m. Fridays. Dates will be announced on the website. Kat Larsen will teach the class, which will include breathing, movement and relaxing meditation.
Knitting and Crocheting: 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays, Sept. 1, 8, 22 and 29. Beginners can learn to knit or crochet, the experienced can share current projects and the interested can come see what the center volunteer is currently making.
Community Cancer Cut and Sew: 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays, Sept. 14 and 28, and 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Sew Orchid Design, 316 Main St.
Guided Meditation Gathering: 1 to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14. Guided meditation promotes relaxation, which will ease stress. Using imagination and five senses, participants may find themselves in a tranquil state that is rejuvenating. There are no known risks associated with guided meditation. Susan Kane will lead the meditation.
Reiki 1: 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20. Reiki is a gentle, hands-on technique intended to relieve stress and discomfort and to complement the medical treatments prescribed by a physician. Charlotte LaBelle of Teresia Reiki will instruct participants to connect with themselves through the introduction to Reiki 1.
Crafting with Barbara: 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Sew Orchid Design, 316 Main St. Barbara Daigle will teach a series of nonsewing or beginner sewing crafts.
