1915 – 2016
AUBURN — Eva Lydia “Lord” Linnell, 100, formerly of South Paris and the Norway Center for Health and Rehabilitation, went to be with her Heavenly family on Saturday, Aug. 27.
She was born Sept. 30, 1915, in North Waterford to Mattie Evelyn Thompson and Roy Hayward Lord. She graduated from Woodstock High School. Eva married right out of high school and went to live and work on the farm in Waterford. During her life, she also worked at Penley’s Mill and Hewlett Packard, where she spent many hours doing medical records and soldering parts for electrocardiogram machines. She was a member of the North Waterford Congregational Church since 1959 and the Evergreen Rebekah Lodge of North Waterford.
She was known for her warm, compassionate, loving spirit, being an excellent cook and was locally known for her fudge. She enjoyed meeting people and always had a kind word for all she knew. Eva wrote many poems and always gave them away. They were thoughtful and usually contained life lessons. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Eva is survived by several cousins; nieces; and a special nephew, James Tyler and his wife, Jean, of Rumford and Emerald Isle, N.C.
She was predeceased by three husbands, Murry “Ducky” Ring, Harold Proctor and Leroy Linnell; four sisters, Marion Langway, Louella Mills and Ruth Tyler of Bryant Pond and Gladys Spencer of Norridgewock; and a half-brother, Hayward Lord of Norway.
Eva’s family wishes to thank Norway Center for Health and Rehabilitation, Stephens Memorial Hospital ER, Comfort Care and the Hospice House.
