They’re the champs until they get knocked off. The Trojans lost a lot, but they’re a factory. Now it’s time to see what the product looks like.

2. PORTLAND 0-0

The Bulldogs finally made it back to the state championship game last year, before falling to Thornton.

3. WINDHAM 0-0

The Eagles were a couple plays away from returning to the state final for the second year in a row. They return dual-threat QB Desmond Leslie.

4. BONNY EAGLE 0-0

If not Thornton in A South, then it’s Bonny Eagle. The Scots will be looking for respect out of Saco and the rest of the South this year.

5. MARSHWOOD 0-0

The Hawks will start to flash a downfall one of these days, right? Maybe not quite yet. They lost some, but have a top-notch coach, quality and quantity on the roster.

6. BRUNSWICK 0-0

Two unsuccessful trips to the state final are enough motivation for any team. The Dragons have made themselves comfortable in Class B.

7. SKOWHEGAN 0-0

If there’s a team that could knock the Dragons off their perch this year, it very well could be the Indians.

8. FALMOUTH 0-0

The Yachtsmen were the top seed in B South last year, then got doubled up by Marshwood in the regional final. Falmouth has some athletes for its turf field — and motivation.

9. WINSLOW 0-0

The Black Raiders have been to the Class C state final four years in a row. The target is still solely on their backs. And longtim coach Mike Siviski hasn’t left yet.

10. WELLS 0-0

The Warriors fell a game short of the state final last year, narrowly losing to Yarmouth. Wells didn’t lose much to graduation, and the program numbers are always strong. Is this the Warriors’ year?
